POSITION SUMMARY:
The General Foreman in the Particleboard Finishing Department plays a key role in supporting the company’s goals by overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the finishing processes. This includes responsibility for scheduling, production monitoring, quality control, and maintenance activities. The position also involves identifying opportunities for process improvements and recommending upgrades or changes to enhance safety, productivity, quality, and both employee and customer satisfaction.
MAJOR TASKS:
The General Foreman in the Particleboard Finishing Department plays a key role in supporting the company’s goals by overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the finishing processes. This includes responsibility for scheduling, production monitoring, quality control, and maintenance activities. The position also involves identifying opportunities for process improvements and recommending upgrades or changes to enhance safety, productivity, quality, and both employee and customer satisfaction.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Administers the company's SAFETY program and ensures that all company and OSHA SAFETY standards are being followed to provide a safe work environment.
- Coordinates routine maintenance activities and responds to equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
- Manages the production activities within the Finishing Department. Determines production priorities by coordinating with Scheduling, Shipping, Technical Director, Production General Foreman and Operations Manager.
- Manages all supervisors in the Finishing Department. Driving SAFETY initiatives, continuous improvement opportunities, and drive customer centricity in the department.
- Promotes data driven solutions and barrier elimination. Improves SAFETY and process efficiency. Actively builds a culture of shared vision, continued growth, commitment and trust with all employees.
- Reviews production reports to provide recommendations for future upgrades, equipment changes and labor requirements.
- Ensures customer requirements and expectations are met by maintaining product quality and timely delivery. SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years of mill manufacturing supervisory/management experience; a BA/BS degree in production management or another technical field preferred but not required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and concerns.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and produce results in conjunction with fellow team members.
- Computer skills in MS Word, Excel and e-mail, and ability to learn and use company specific software.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and maintenance in a Particleboard or similar industry.
