2025 Seasonal Invasive Species Technician

Position Overview

Timberland Invasives Partnership (TIP) is hiring a short-term invasive species control technician who will work approximately May through October of 2025 (dates based on candidate availability.) The position reports to the TIP Coordinator and is based in Keshena and/or Antigo for work in Langlade, Menominee, Oconto, and Shawano Counties. The position may also include surveying and public education/outreach.

The IS Technician will…

· Identify, survey, record and report invasive plant species locations using a GPS unit.

· Conduct manual and chemical control of invasive plants on public and private lands.

· Operate and maintain equipment and materials.

· Communicate and coordinate activities with the TIP Coordinator.

· As needed, help with education and outreach events.

· Completed necessary reporting of daily activities including pesticide use.

Compensation

$17-$19 per hour based on experience. Completing at least 13 weeks of work will make the employee eligible for a season-end bonus.

Requirements

· Have a valid state driver’s license, access to a reliable and insured personal vehicle, and a good driving record

· Be 18 years of age or older

· Be able to work in a variety of outdoor conditions

· Be able to safely carry a three-gallon backpack sprayer for extended periods of time and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

· Be able to work independently or with a team

· Be able to communicate with members of the public in a friendly, positive manner

· Be able to operate mechanical equipment in a safe and responsible manner

· Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

· Obtain Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator Certification (materials and fees will be paid by the company.)

Training and Experience:

A background in natural resources or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of Wisconsin native and common invasive plant taxonomy is preferred. Experience with plant identification and GPS use is preferred but training will be provided.
