Role :
As a Panel Technician, you will be responsible for constructing and assembling electrical control panels in compliance with UL508 standards. Your primary duties will involve reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to assemble control panels for various industrial applications. You will work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that panels are built according to specifications and meet industry standards for safety and functionality.
Key Responsibilities :
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to understand panel layout and wiring requirements.
Selecting appropriate electrical components such as circuit breakers, relays, switches, terminals, and wire ducts based on project specifications.
Mounting and installing electrical components onto back panels or enclosures according to layout diagrams.
Wiring and connecting electrical components using proper techniques to ensure safety and functionality.
Testing completed panels to verify proper wiring connections, functionality, and adherence to UL508 standards.
Troubleshooting and resolving any issues or discrepancies in panel construction or wiring.
Documenting assembly and testing procedures, as well as maintaining accurate records of materials used.
Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations while working in the shop or on-site.
Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality in panel assembly processes.
Field work may be required, depending on project / s
Physical Requirements :
Able to securely lift up to 50 pounds
Able to bend, kneel, twist, stretch and perform overhead work
Much of the work is performed indoor
Some work will be performed in tight spaces
Education & Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical assembly or a related field preferred.
Proven experience in electrical panel assembly, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Understanding of electrical principles, components, and wiring techniques
Familiarity with UL508 standards and regulations governing electrical panel construction.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints accurately.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in panel assembly.
Excellent attention to detail and quality craftsmanship in panel construction.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety procedures and guidelines.
