What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Operator position at TIMET?
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To assist operator in loading, unloading, vacuum arc remelt furnaces and weld stubs and wafers on metal electrodes. Produce titanium metal to specifications at an acceptable production pace. Follow all safety & standard operating procedures. This is the entry level role for the melt shop line of promotion.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Furnace assemblies, materials handling equipment, fork truck, hand tools, plasma arc welding equipment, wire welding equipment, weld chamber, vacuum pumps, hydroblaster, work savers, cranes, hoists, welding units, welding jig, floor-controlled overhead crane, cleaning tools, hand truck, measuring tape, work saver, forklift, scales, copper crucible & bottoms, tumbler etc.
MATERIALS: Initial charge sponge and metal electrodes, stubs, wafers, titanium wire, inert gas, acid, etc.
SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: Shift Supervisor.
WORKING PROCEDURE:
1. Assists operators in material handling.
2. Assists operators in disconnecting furnace accessories and loading.
3. Assists operators in maintenance of furnaces.
4. Cleans and inspects welds removes any contaminants.
5. Identifies cleans and inspects stubs for use in fabrication of electrode per welding specifications.
6. Fabricates electrodes by welding aligned electrode, stubs by operating weld line and weld chamber controls and power rollers.
7. Completes & maintains records and make computer entries as required. (Peak entries & sign-off)
8. Keeps equipment and working area in clean and orderly condition.
9. In transporting stubs, fabricated electrodes, and ingots, operates materials handling equipment, cranes, hoists, etc.,
10. Break mis-welded electrode apart and also repair electrodes welds as required
11. Clean, inspect, drop check and paint crucibles signs off crucibles per direction of Double Melt Furnace Operator.
12. Unloads electrodes & ingots from crucible. Cleans and inspects crucible bottoms.
13. Makes minor maintenance and repairs to equipment and assists maintenance employees in major maintenance and repairs. Performs minor PM’s on equipment.
14. Places electrodes on de-scaler with crane and turns on automatic cycle.
15. Fabricates electrodes by welding aligned compacts, sponge ends & stubs. Operating weld lines and weld chamber controls, wire weld units utilizing required tools and equipment.
16. Loads, unloads and transports materials and supplies to and from other areas.
Pay rate: $28.90 to $29.95p/hr.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful application must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work.
