POSITION SUMMARY :

Serve as an active team member of the Network and Infrastructure Team and the Technology Department to support information technology initiatives in the school corporation.

SALARY GUIDE :

  • 70,878 - $83,621
  • 260 Days (FLSA Exempt)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum of three (3) years' hands-on experience with operations and maintenance of key IT infrastructure in the following areas : desktop management, virtualization, storage, digital data communications, application server support, wired / wireless networks, and systems integration.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for the administration of a fiber LAN / WAN networking environment, including maintaining user accounts, network printer configuration and PaperCut print management, Veeam backup systems, and Cisco Voiceover-IP and voicemail systems.
  • Monitor and maintain servers, routers, and other equipment for potential hardware or software failure or breach of corporation security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain standards on the configurations related to network devices.
  • Manage the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and use of cyber security infrastructure devices, which include Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Endpoint Protection Platform Detection & Response (EFF / EDR), Security Information Event Monitoring (SIEM), Vulnerability Scanning, Application Control, Firewall Suite, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
  • Perform and manage reviews and risk assessments of new, proposed, or existing network and computing infrastructure; identify threats, vulnerabilities, risks, and gaps in security controls and develop cybersecurity risk management plans.
  • Manage and monitor cyber incident activity, respond to cybersecurity incidents with incident response actions to support the restoration of information resources back to operation and identify the root cause of incidents.
  • Research and provide expertise on integration of third party software and tools.
  • Provide top-level technical assistance to coordinate effective resolutions for end-user problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to schedule and coordinate workload; to work without direct supervision to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information when received and distributed to appropriate designees as approved by the Director of Technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • DESIRED SKILL SET :

  • Enterprise Network-scale operational knowledge of Cisco IOS and its security features.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in the installation / administration of Cisco equipment (including but not limited to routers, switches, content engines, VLAN methods, system monitoring and maintenance, wireless access points) as well as Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
  • Previous experience and solid understanding of virtualization of both Virtual Desktops and Servers (VMware / VSphere).
  • Knowledge of network and data center facilities and data processing techniques, of personal computer hardware and software technologies, of server hardware and software technologies, network operating systems and cybersecurity tools and solutions.
  • Knowledge of locals and wide area network technologies, protocols and devices, system administration, firewall administration, Wireless Network Administration, Active Directory administration, Web Content Filtering solutions, EPP / EDR, and SIEM.
  • Knowledge of encryption technologies, identity and access management, secure network architecture, penetration testing, and web application security.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and information security control frameworks, including the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST), Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and the Center for Internet Security.
  • Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
  • Skill in performing risk assessments, security assessments and managing identified risks.
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, teamwork skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Post-secondary training in technology-related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining network servers, routers, and other infrastructure equipment in multi-site, multi-OS environments.
  • The following certifications are desirable for this position :
  • CCNA, CCNE, or CCIE (most desirable)

  • MCP, MCSE
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS :

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY :

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

    Ability to operate various technological equipment. Use of arms and hands for finger dexterity for operating such equipment. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. such as printers, computers, and monitors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to withstand long term use of Video Display Terminals is required. The employee is regularly required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and staff in addition to meeting multiple demands from several people.
