Overview
Position Summary:The General Laborer at our Aggregates mining plant in Clermont, FL plays a key role in supporting the efficient and safe extraction, processing, and transportation of aggregate materials. This position involves performing a variety of physical tasks, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Handling:
- Assist with the movement, loading, and unloading of raw materials and finished aggregates using shovels, wheelbarrows, or other equipment.
- Maintain clean work areas by removing debris, excess materials, and waste.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate basic equipment such as conveyors, crushers, and screens under supervision.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues to supervisors.
- Assist with the lubrication and cleaning of machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all company and regulatory safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times as required by MSHA.
- Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately.
- Participate in safety training sessions and drills.
- Support Duties:
- Assist skilled workers and operators in tasks as directed.
- Help with the setup and teardown of operational equipment during production shifts.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Environmental Compliance:
- Adhere to environmental regulations by minimizing spills, dust, and other impacts.
- Support reclamation activities as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, mining, or a related field is an asset but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems or willingness to learn.
