Job: Physician Scribe

Position Summary
The Medical Scribe will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of medical documentation, allowing healthcare providers to focus on patient care. The Physician Scribe’s primary responsibility will be to accompany physicians and healthcare professionals during patient encounters, meticulously recording medical histories, physical examinations, and treatment plans in real-time. With a keen attention to detail and a thorough understanding of medical terminology, the Physician Scribe will ensure the creation of comprehensive and precise electronic medical records (EMRs).
Essential Functions
-Functions at all times under a physician or advanced practitioners’ direct supervision.
-Accompanies physician into exam room with patient, entering information in the electronic medical record regarding patient symptoms and condition as physician interviews the patient.
-Transcribes medical decision-making in real time under direction of physician, creating accurate patient encounter notes.
-Inputs real-time encounter information into the electronic health record using a wireless device.
-Edits all completed health records for accuracy regardless of whether clinicians dictated directly into the HER using voice recognition software or the information is keyed in using templates or a combination.
-Abides by all applicable Titus Regional Medical Center policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety matters, HIPPA-compliance, and patient/computer confidentiality.
-Retrieves, collates, monitors, and reports laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic test results to the Physician in a timely manner.
-Mindful of patient experience and safety expectations by maintaining professionalism during every encounter including introductions with the patient and explanation of role.
-Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
-Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
-A minimum of 1 year of work experience in the healthcare field may be considered in lieu of the education.
-Experience in a direct patient care environment preferred. (EMT, scribe, clinical technician in hospital setting, medical assistant in a doctor’s office).
-Health care student, medical student preferred.
-Experience with EPIC HER is preferred.
-Must have excellent communication skills and be able to understand both written and oral instructions
-Prior experience as a medical scribe is strongly preferred.
Education
- Health care student, medical student preferred
-Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
-Biology coursework at the undergraduate level or above preferred.
