Overview:
Tiverton Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and highly qualified Special Education Teacher with a Severe/Profound certification to provide individualized instruction to students receiving homebound medical services. This position plays a critical role in supporting students with significant disabilities who are temporarily unable to attend school due to medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students in their home or approved settings, based on IEP goals and instructional needs.
Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP.
Collaborate with families, medical professionals, school staff, and related service providers.
Maintain accurate records of instruction, progress, and communication.
Ensure instruction is adapted and accessible to meet each student’s cognitive, physical, and health-related needs.
Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and relevant professional development.
Qualifications:
Valid RI Teaching Certificate in Special Education with Severe/Profound endorsement required.
Experience working with students with complex medical and developmental needs preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and with flexibility.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the district as needed.
Work Environment:
Instruction provided in the student’s home or designated off-site location in collaboration with families and medical guidelines.
Flexible scheduling based on student needs and medical provider recommendations.
