Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer with a strong background in lighting control systems, particularly DMX (at least 2 years of experience required). The ideal candidate will provide technical support, system design, and application expertise for architectural, entertainment, and commercial lighting projects. This role requires a combination of engineering knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting, and customer interaction to ensure successful project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for lighting control solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to DMX, RDM, DALI and other control protocols.
- Assist customers in commissioning and configuring lighting control systems.
- System Design & Application Engineering
- Work closely with sales, product management, and customers to develop tailored lighting solutions.
- Review and interpret project specifications, blueprints, and electrical drawings to recommend proper lighting and control solutions.
- Assist in system integration, ensuring compatibility with third-party controllers and automation systems.
- Product Training & Customer Interaction
- Conduct training sessions for clients, sales representatives, and internal teams on DMX control systems, networking, and software tools.
- Provide technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and programming guidelines for lighting installations.
- Field Support & Site Visits
- Travel to project sites as needed to support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Work alongside contractors, system integrators, and end users to ensure proper functionality of lighting control systems.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Provide feedback to R&D and product development teams to improve lighting control products.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, control technologies, and smart lighting innovations.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with DMX control systems in the architectural, entertainment, or commercial lighting industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of DMX, RDM, SPI, DALI and other lighting control protocols.
- Familiarity with lighting control software, networked lighting systems, and system commissioning.
- Experience with troubleshooting controllers, LED drivers, and power supply issues.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel for on-site commissioning and support (up to 30%).
- Experience with Madrix, Pharos, ETC, or similar lighting control software.
- Familiarity with programming languages (Python, C , or JavaScript) for automation and system integration.
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Art-Net, sACN, MQTT, BACnet, etc.) for connected lighting systems.
- Experience in AV integration, smart building solutions, or interactive lighting design.
