Job Title: Correctional Mental Health Counselor
We are seeking a licensed mental health counselor to join our team at the Sebastian County Jail in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
About the Role:
- Provide mental health care and counseling services to incarcerated individuals
- Assess and evaluate psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention
- Develop individualized treatment plans for inmates with mental illness
- Coordinate care with facility and medical staff to ensure inmates' special needs are addressed
Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations of inmates for suicide intervention and prevention
- MAT/substance abuse counseling
- Complete inmate need assessments and develop individualized release plans
- Maintain safety and security of staff and inmates when making clinical decisions
- Participate in on-call responsibilities and provide mental health training for jail staff as needed
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, or related field
- Licensed as a Social Worker, Marriage/Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor required
