About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Copywriter to join our fast-growing, in-house creative team at St. Louis CITY SC. This is an opportunity to be part of a club that’s redefining what it means to be a modern soccer franchise, combining elite sport with best-in-class creative storytelling. If you’re a conceptual thinker who understands the content space and you have the ability to write with purpose and lead brilliantly, this role is for you.
You’ll work collaboratively across departments to craft ideas that transcend sport, connect deeply with fans, and energize the culture of soccer and the city of St. Louis. You’ll lead projects from concept to execution, mentor junior creatives, and inspire everyone around you to push for greatness.
What You'll Do
Lead Creative Projects: From ideation to execution, you’ll guide the creative process, ensuring every word, campaign, and concept meets the highest standards of craft and creativity.
Big Ideas: Develop campaign ideas that break through the noise, connect with culture, and make an emotional impact on fans.
Develop Sporting Content: You’ll help support our matchday mandatories for Apple TV as well as offer support to the social team with ideas that delight across our digital channels.
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with art directors, designers, strategists, and producers to ensure every piece of work feels cohesive and aligned with the club’s vision and values.
Understand Soccer Culture: Create work that feels authentic to the game and resonates with fans locally, nationally, and globally.
Think Bigger Than Soccer: Help tell stories that are bigger than soccer and support our vision of a New St. Louis.
Write, Edit, and Refine: Bring ideas to life with sharp, compelling, and strategic copy across various platforms, from social media to email comms to long-form storytelling. Details are important (did you catch that?).
Inspire and Mentor: Lead with energy and positivity, mentoring junior creatives while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Push Creative Boundaries: Help evolve the CITY SC brand and voice by constantly seeking new ways to connect with fans and the community.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: 7 years in a creative role, with a strong portfolio of conceptually driven, high-quality work. Experience in sports or lifestyle brands is a plus.
