Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations for the physical structures, grounds, and equipment of the facility. This position involves supervising a team of maintenance personnel or contractors, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality repairs and upkeep in accordance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Supervise and lead the maintenance department, including recruitment, discipline, performance evaluations, and determining manpower needs. Ensure training and development, including for contract employees.
- Project Participation: Contribute to projects such as the design, purchase, and installation of production equipment and improvements in production processes.
- Operational Compliance: Review and enforce standard operating procedures and policies to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance expectations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Oversee and manage the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the facility. Update and modify PMs as necessary.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve maintenance and equipment issues. Coordinate machinery repair schedules with production needs, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Electrical and Equipment Repair: Supervise the installation and repair of electrical systems and components, including transformers, wiring, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for temperature, pressure, and process control systems.
- Equipment Inspection: Ensure equipment is inspected for operational performance, and maintain accurate repair and maintenance records. Advise on equipment upgrades and replacement as needed.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Manage equipment maintenance schedules to align with production timelines. Review work orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Inventory Management: Recommend and requisition tools, equipment, parts, and supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels for maintenance functions.
- Safety Compliance: Collaborate with management to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including environmental requirements.
- Work Environment: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, utilizing systems like 5-S procedures.
- Team Communication: Lead regular communication meetings with the maintenance team, focusing on safety, quality, process improvements, and operational updates.
- Additional Duties: Supervise custodial services and manage external contractors, including contract negotiation and scope definition. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Training Required:
- Education: A degree in electrical maintenance or a related technical discipline is preferred. A related bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in maintenance within a production environment, with expertise in areas such as industrial maintenance, electrical systems (AC/DC), welding, hydraulics, and boiler room operations.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance role within a production setting.
- Experience with 6-axis robots and injection molding maintenance is preferred.
- Technical Certifications: On-the-job training or certifications in hydraulics, boiler room operations, welding, and forklift operations.
- Budgeting and Financial Reporting: Experience in establishing and managing budgets is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of industrial maintenance, plant electrical systems, AC/DC, boiler room operations, welding, pneumatics, plumbing, and hydraulics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, define problems, and develop effective solutions.
- Proven ability to lead, build, and maintain a cohesive team environment.
- Proficient in drafting reports, policies, and procedures.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret technical data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
