Position Overview
The Pellet Mill Supervisor is a critical leadership role responsible for managing production operations, ensuring workplace safety, and maintaining high levels of productivity and quality in our wood pellet manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols across all production areas
- Conduct daily safety inspections and risk assessments
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs
- Ensure all team members are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Investigate and report all safety incidents, developing preventive measures
- Maintain 100% compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company safety standards
Production Oversight
- Manage daily production operations to meet output targets and quality specifications
- Optimize production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize waste
- Monitor equipment performance and schedule preventative maintenance
- Coordinate production scheduling and resource allocation
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity
- Maintain accurate production logs and performance reports
- Maintain quality production by maintaining
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor a team of 10-20 production operators
- Provide clear communication of expectations, goals, and performance standards
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and development discussions
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning
- Resolve conflicts and address performance issues promptly and professionally
- Support recruitment, training, and onboarding of new team members
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of safety management
- Strong knowledge of wood pellet production processes
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in production management software and data analysis tools
- EN Audit Training
Technical Skills
- Advanced understanding of pellet mill equipment and operations
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and production blueprints
- Experience with preventative maintenance scheduling
- Familiarity with industrial safety regulations
- Competent in Microsoft Office and production tracking software
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure daily/weekly completion and documentation of Method 9 visible emissions observations
- Oversee Visual Emissions (VE) checks and maintain accurate records
- Monitor environmental control systems and respond promptly to any deviations
- Maintain compliance with all applicable environmental permits and regulations
- Coordinate with environmental team on compliance reporting and documentation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must wear required PPE and work in potentially noisy and demanding industrial environments
Performance Metrics
- Zero recordable safety incidents
- Meet or exceed monthly production targets

Shift Details
- Arrive 30 minutes before shift start, additional time requires manager authority
- Conduct and lead effective hand off meeting 15 minutes at end of shift with oncoming crew
