Kennel Assistant

Job duties include:

• Maintain a clean, sanitized environment
• Care for dogs/cats by feeding and watering
• Care for other farm animals by feeding, watering, and cleaning stalls
• Clean, hose, mop and disinfect kennels and all common areas
• Laundry, dusting and other cleaning duties as assigned
• Supervise interactions with dogs in the yard in all types of weather
• Clean up after dogs
• Bathing and brushing dogs
• Ensure a fun, yet safe, environment for all guests
• Provide excellent customer service
• Check-in and check-out guests
• Yard work, weeding, raking and any other farm items

Essential skills needed:

• Must love dogs and be comfortable with all sizes, ages and temperaments
• Friendly, energetic and upbeat with a positive personality
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
• Knowledge of basic animal care and behavior
• Must be able to be on time and have reliable transportation
• Must be able to work at a fast pace and in all weather
• Must be able to stand and walk for majority of shift
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must have excellent communication skills

Requirements:

• Ability to read and comprehend feeding instructions EXACTLY
• Previous experience working in a kennel, dog daycare or veterinary hospital preferred, but not required
• Bonus pay for experience trimming nails and grooming dogs of all sizes and breeds (this is the only way to get the high end of our starting pay range or extra pay for grooming experience)
• Hours will vary weekly depending on the number of dogs onsite (part-time) Shifts include 6:30 am - 9:00 am (must be available for AM at least 3 days a week Monday - Friday) Some evening shifts might be available as well and would be 4-6pm.
• Must be willing to work one weekend per month as needed and be available on days surrounding holidays
• 18 years or older
