JOB TITLE: Construction and Services Superintendent
DUTIES:
Develop and maintain excellent communication with other employees, serving
as the primary contact and resource for field personnel.
Prepare for and plan site meetings with clients as necessary.
Collaborate with fellow management and employees to develop and
implement scope of work for projects and jobs. This includes collaborating
with management in the developing, planning, and implementing of all safety
and quality control procedures, jobsite security, field office location and layout,
temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment, and manpower requirements as
necessary.
Participate and assist in mobilization, coordination, and project completion.
Coordinate all project-related activities.
Complete Call Locates for each excavation job.
Examine and understand any blueprints, drawings, specifications, and
addenda, looking for design deficiencies, impractical details, and possible
code violations.
Ensure that all required equipment is dispatched to the job site/ project safely
and on time.
Oversee and/or delegate the maintenance of a safe, clean, and organized
work site; ensuring all tools and equipment are removed and/or secured each
day.
Lead crews and team members on projects and jobsites as necessary, with a
willingness to jump in and help as needed.
Manage and oversee all fieldwork being done, ensuring it is of the highest
quality.
Ensure strict job-site safety procedures are in place and adhered to; conduct
safety meetings with subcontractors and other employees as needed.
Supervise subcontractors to ensure safe operations, work quality, schedule,
and cost as necessary; maximizing subcontractor and crew productivity;
managing subcontractor performance and behavior on site.
Ensure that all promised deadlines are met, that changing scopes and
deadlines are identified early, and that new costs and deadlines are
communicated to the team and the client.
Address client questions and concerns.
Track any change work orders and any work done outside the scope of each
project.
Monitor job costs.
Manage the construction and close-out of assigned projects.
Ensure client satisfaction after each medium- to large-sized project is
complete by conducting a final walkthrough with the client.
Create and manage weekly schedule, maintaining a current calendar and
identifying potential schedule gaps and problems in advance.
Work with clients and project team members to anticipate problems and
implement solutions.
Provide product knowledge and expertise to customers, recommending
materials and services based on customers’ needs, interests, and budget.
Submit material purchases with appropriate job numbers and assist with
invoice approvals as required.
Review and/or prepare daily job summaries that track and log labor hours,
materials/equipment used, site issues, and notable comments or occurrences.
Ensure any appropriate project documentation such as as-builts, inspections,
permits, work logs, reports, etc. are maintained.
Identify and communicate potential leads and opportunities to the appropriate
member of management.
Oversee all inspections, reviewing footage and finalizing inspection
summaries.
Oversee company inventory of all tools, parts, and materials, and maintain
minimum levels of each.
Oversee the coordination of maintenance on all company vehicles and
equipment.
Oversee and compile all maintenance records for vehicles and equipment.
Keep all insurance and DOT documentation in equipment and vehicles up to
date.
