Job Summary:
The Assistant Operations Manager helps to oversee the daily tactical as well as the long-term strategic activities within the team. They also supervise the administrative staff and perform other administrative duties within the facility to ensure that daily operations run smoothly.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervision of the administrative staff to include dispatchers, and customer service representatives as well as the Inbound/Outbound Supervisors.
- Effectively communicate with drivers and dockworkers and assist in escalated personnel issues.
- Review and verify driver paperwork for accuracy.
- Run daily recaps and generate other time sensitive reports for the leadership team as well as customers.
- Provide back up support and oversight for Operations.
- Regularly review hours and overtime to ensure budgetary compliance.
- Provide feedback to senior leadership on the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and productivity.
- Ensure the inbound/outbound and carload teams are meeting customer demands, following customer compliance, and meeting quotas where applicable.
- Assist the Inbound/Outbound supervisor with attendance tracking, performance management, and assist in the administration of corrective action in partnership with HR as needed.
- Monitor daily operations and suggest initiative to improve productivity.
- Assist Supervisors with maintaining an accurate headcount and participate in interviews and the hiring process as needed.

Education and Experience:

- 3-5 years' experience in successfully managing a team.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with TMW software preferred.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or trucking environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
