Position Description
The Estimator is responsible for coordination and implementation of construction estimating/bidding controls, administration, document management and technical coordination as it relates to bidding and budgeting projects.
Reports to: Preconstruction Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the estimating and bidding process (including solicitation methods and packages that contain plans, specifications, applicable codes and market pricing).
Manage and implement construction estimating systems at the corporate office and/or designated project and utilize appropriate resources to successfully develop budget and bid pricing to secure and deliver projects for new and current clients. Pricing efforts include: Program budget estimates, estimates produced throughout various customer design phases, Guaranteed Maximum Price Development, Stipulated Sum and Cost-Plus Development. Implement the process of design drawings, specifications and all other construction documents reviews that apply to successfully assemble and deliver bids, budgets and guaranteed maximum prices for prospective and current clients.
Thoroughly review and develop a comprehensive knowledge of design-related challenges, completeness of documents and other potential risks associated with bidding and budgeting projects.
Develop and maintain relationships with Owner clients, Architect clients and the subcontractor community in efforts implement effective budget pricing, constructability reviews and value analysis on behalf of Source Building Group, Inc.
Provide market research information for upcoming work.
Coordinate the development of the General Conditions/Requirements budget estimates and review with Senior Management.
Maintain local and national historical data and develop cost trends. Coordinate the value engineering process during pre-construction.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a Construction Management, Engineering or Technical related Degree: and/or a minimum of Five (5) years of Construction Estimating experience in Commercial Construction
Possess thorough knowledge and experience in Construction Cost Estimating, Purchasing and Scope Development
Possess knowledge and experience in Project Schedule development and implementation Possess strong verbal and communicationsskills
Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Software and Estimating/Bid Creation software for Budget Development
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
Able to manage successfully in a face paced, team atmosphere
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Performance of job duties may require climbing temporary or permanent stairs, passenger usage of construction hoists/elevators and climbing ladders for project site observation and visits
Work Environment may include existing on high elevated surfaces such as roofs, elevated platforms, swing stages, loud machine/equipment influenced areas, areas with high decibel banging and dust particles
