The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Dispatcher to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing a fleet of approximately 35-40 drivers, ensuring timely pick-up and delivery of loads, and maximizing revenue and driver productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review driver check calls to determine driver location and estimated delivery times.
- Dispatch loads to drivers, providing necessary information, loading instructions, directions, routing, and fuel details.
- Communicate with customers to obtain directions and schedule loading/delivery appointments as needed.
- Promote safety throughout all areas of operations, including dispatching loads within drivers' available hours.
- Focus on driver retention by understanding driver requirements/preferences, monitoring driver performance, and keeping drivers informed and motivated.
- Identify, track, and resolve performance issues through driver evaluations and meetings.
- Ensure awareness of and enforce company policies.
- Maintain records related to driver performance and productivity.
Requirements:
- A four-year degree in Transportation and Logistics or relevant experience in transportation/related field.
- Fluency in computer applications and keyboard proficiency.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and manage stress.
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
