The Production Manager, under the direction of the Plant Manager is accountable for driving continuous improvement of a value stream for the location. This role leads a cross functional team to ensure that the production, engineering, maintenance, and quality needs of the value stream are being met and exceeded. Through the management of production supervisors, this role ensures the safety, quality, productivity, cost performance, employee relations, capital improvements, and budget preparation. The Production Manager will monitor production performance, implement processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas, establish and maintain best practices, and ensure regulatory compliance for all production activities. This position is a key development role for promotion to a Plant Manager position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets daily with colleagues and subordinates in production, engineering, quality, maintenance, materials management , human resources , and finance, to monitor KPIs and coordinate activities that drive the achievement of objectives.
Oversees production operations, its team members, budget, expenses, processes, and procedures.
Supports all safety, environmental, quality, corporate and plant level policies and procedures.
Provides leadership by managing plant operations to ensure that safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets are met or exceeded.
Determines appropriate staffing requirements in order to meet established quality standards and production objectives.
Analyze workflow, yields, manpower requirements, production restraints and quality issues.
Identifies problems and develops solutions to continually improve operations.
Determine training requirements and ensure training needs are met.
Work with HR, Quality, Safety and other departments to develop necessary training.
Build and maintain productive employee relations, driving employee satisfaction.
Provide direction, mentoring/coaching, training, corrective action as needed.
Recommend corrective action and review corrective action by supervisors for effectiveness, appropriateness, and consistency.
Monitor production forecasts and assign priorities based on customer requirements and production capability.
Utilize various tools, including QAD system to conduct capacity planning in establishing production plan. Identify potential customer corrective actions such as scheduling overtime, hiring staff, layoff, outsourcing, or expediting.
Achieve targeted customer service levels and inventory turn levels based on forecast error and bias trends, manufacturing capacity/flexibility, customer service and inventory turn goals.
Present summary of key information at management meetings.
Foster and lead the continuous improvement or lean manufacturing concepts, using the appropriate techniques (5S, process mapping, kaizen, etc.) to reduce inventory costs, improve cash flow, reduce obsolescence and reduce operating costs and improve safety and quality
Review output from shop floor reporting and analyzes variances
Develop trend analysis, identify methods of improvement to raise the level of accuracy and data entry efficiency.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
