SUMMARY

The Program Supervisor (PS) is responsible for supervising and providing on-going support, guidance, and reflective supervision to Family Support Specialist (FSS). The PS also advocates for organizational programs by building and maintaining relationships within the communities assigned and serves as an ambassador of the organization through speaking engagements, trainings, and awareness campaigns. The PS will support staff and be based in the Murfreesboro office location but may be required to visit additional staff in the Wilson or Davidson County offices once a month.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and evaluate direct reports utilizing reflective supervision guidelines
  • Support direct reports by accompanying them and observing them during the course of their work
  • Maintain supervisory logs and required data for documentation of weekly supervision meetings
  • Review data system (ex. Apricot and Salesforce) for all required documentation
  • Prepare monthly reports, and submit quarterly and yearly data to ensure compliance with all contract requirements
  • Participate in program meetings and provide training when necessary
  • Promote, adhere, and demonstrate our organization’s values
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Collaborate with other agencies, provide outreach, and advocate for our programs
  • Assure the components and standards of Healthy Families Tennessee and Nurturing Parenting programs are met and maintained, and actively participate in all program accreditation processes
  • Respect and maintain confidential information in all situations
  • Hire, onboard, train, supervise, and annually evaluate staff in the Healthy Families and Nurturing Parenting programs
  • Facilitate trainings as needed
  • Participate in agency leadership by helping inform strategic planning process, quarterly site visits, staff meetings, and retreats
  • Follow organizational policies, make recommendations for change, and lead implementation of changes
  • Attend quarterly site visits in appropriate region
  • Mentor and coach others within the organization
  • Participate in major fundraising events, community awareness events and program activities
  • Fulfill the role of other leaders and managers in the organization when the position is vacant or employee is on leave
  • Assist with child abuse prevention month activities
  • Participate and lead ad-hoc committees when appropriate and needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid understanding and experience in managing/motivating staff as well as providing support in stressful working environments
  • Knowledge/experience with trauma informed care
  • Experience in home visiting with a background in early childhood prevention services
  • Experience providing strengths-based and family-centered support to young children and families
  • Experience in working with culturally diverse communities/families
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment principles
  • Ability to self-direct daily work tasks and practice effective time management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate as part of a team
  • Microsoft Office, email, internet; Must be able to meet documentation requirements
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Infant mental health endorsement preferred

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or a related field and 3 years of relevant experience working with children and families. Less than a bachelor’s degree will be considered when combined with HFA experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to position themselves in a sitting position, talk, and/or hear (with or without aide). The employee is regularly required to remain stationary, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to keyboard and enter data at a computer. The employee is frequently required to operate a motor vehicle, move throughout homes or buildings and may be required to climb stairs in family homes and in a variety of community-based and home settings. The employee must learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, communicate with program participants and community partners. FSS must have the ability to complete tasks with speed in situations that ensures the safety of children. Employees must move supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, ability to adjust focus and operate a vehicle safely. The employee must have access to reliable transportation. Employees are required daily to remain alert and engaged to safety operate vehicles and ensure the safety of small children. The work environment includes indoor office environments or comparable spaces, families’ homes and community spaces, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather when traveling to home visits and meetings. The noise level varies by sites, home visits, and meetings.

TRAVEL

The PS may be required to travel to Wilson and Davidson counties once a month. Other occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
