What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tower Technician position at TNTS Technologies, LLC?
The Tower Technician will install, maintain, and operate wired, wireless, fiber optic and microwave telecommunications equipment and systems. As a Tower Technician, you provide support in the maintenance and the construction of telecommunication site infrastructures. Will report to the Crew Foreman.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Understands and implements Tennessee Tower Services, LLC (TNTS) Health Safety and Environmental Policies (Safety Manual)
- Ability to recognize and mitigate on site safety hazards.
- Ability to properly rig towers for all required lifts.
- Understands and implements Industry standards (OSHA, TIA10-48, NATE CTS and ANSI)
- Climbing towers and ladders at various heights
- Off-loading material and inventory
- Preparation and cleaning of sites
- Organized with strong attention to detail and capable of working with minimum supervision
- Installation of new carriers on new build and existing towers
- Assists in the antenna installation of microwave parabolic 1 to 15-foot, and cellular sites
- Assists in the installation of all aspects of cell site foundations, grounding and conduits, with electrical installations where applicable
- Serve as a mentor and trainer to authorized climbers
- Ability to successfully troubleshoot PIM, RSSI, and BER alarms
- Inspect all Fall Protection and Rigging equipment before each use.
- Assist on all rescues if necessary.
- Gain extensive knowledge of carriers RRU’s, antennas, and market standards.
Education and Training
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years tower experience
- Ability to read, comprehend and implement instructions per RFDS, Construction Drawings, Structural Analysis, and scoping documents.
- Working knowledge of CTS, NATE, ANSI, and OSHA safety standards and regulations
- Must have the ability to climb 100’ towers, be able to pick up 50 lbs., and capable of working up to 12 hours
- Obtain the following certifications OSHA 30, RF Awareness, Electrical Safety, Capstan, First Aid, CPR, & AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Safety LMS/Contain Competent Climber/Rescuer & Rigging, NWSA TT1, Capstan, Crane Signal Person, Rooftop Awareness Heat & Cold Stress.
- Ability to properly use 3Z Azimuth Tool
- Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions
Working Conditions
- Must be available to work weekends and/or nights, in extreme weather conditions if necessary
- Must have the ability and be willing to travel extensively, as required for job related functions
- Must be able to work out of market or away from home as work demands
