Purpose of Job:
Provide classroom instruction and management in the absence of classroom teacher.
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.
General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Provide instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent, by implementing lesson plans in a manner that motivates students to learn and participate
Maintain established routines and procedures of classroom and school to which assigned
Establish and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
Complies and supports school and district standards and policies
Report any student injuries, illnesses, and discipline problems to school administration
Work cooperatively and professionally with staff members and parents
Maintain consistent flexibility to be present at work when needed upon short notice
Maintain and respect confidentiality of students and school personnel information
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Project a positive image of the LSSD at all times
Keep information confidential concerning school business
Act in a professional manner at all times
May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen
Dress neatly and appropriately, according to system staff dress code
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Two years of college preferred.
Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students
Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal or Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
Abilities/Physical Requirements
Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active light work in a classroom setting. Must be able to stand and walk prolonged periods of time, as needed, to monitor students in cafeteria, halls, and classrooms.
