The Summer Intern position in the Todd County Public Works Department provides support to the Engineering Division during the summer construction season, from mid-May to mid-August. This temporary position assists with various road construction inspection activities and may also support the Maintenance Division as needed.

- Assist engineering staff in preliminary and construction surveying.
- Assist engineering staff in the testing of various construction-related materials.
- Assist engineering staff in the overall inspection of construction projects.
- Assist engineering staff in the construction management and documentation of construction projects.
- Provide miscellaneous engineering assistance on various maintenance-related projects.
- The student must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (minimum of part-time) when applying for the internship or will be enrolled for the fall semester.
- Must be a first-time internship, applicant may not repeat the program and is limited to one agreement.
- Must be 18 years old at the start of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or access to transportation.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and related hardware and software.
Physical Requirements
This work requires regular exertion of up to 50 pounds. The position requires working outside in various types of weather conditions. Tasks may involve standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting materials or equipment as needed.
