The Summer Intern – Sign Technician Assistant position in the Todd County Public Works Department provides support to the Maintenance Division during the summer construction season, from mid-May to mid-August. This temporary position assists in the installation and maintenance of E-911 and road signs throughout Todd County and may also support other maintenance-related tasks as needed.

- Assist the Sign Technician in the production of road and E-911 signs.
- Assist the Sign Technician in the installation of road and E-911 signs throughout Todd County.
- Conduct various shop-related maintenance activities, including cleaning and mowing.
- Provide miscellaneous assistance on various other maintenance-related projects as needed.
- The student must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (minimum of part-time) when applying for the internship or will be enrolled for the fall semester.
- Must be a first-time internship, applicant may not repeat the program and is limited to one agreement.
- Must be 18 years old at the start of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or access to transportation.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to operate basic tools and equipment related to sign installation.
Physical Requirements
This work requires regular exertion of up to 50 pounds. The position requires working outside in various types of weather conditions. Tasks may involve standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting materials or equipment as needed.
