This position plays a critical role in shaping Engineering project management by preparing, coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing various projects within the industry. The Senior Project Engineer will lead a multidisciplinary team in the design and development of systems such as electrical power distribution, transportation infrastructure, roadway lighting, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), vehicle charging stations, pump stations, and fiber optic networks. The role will involve active participation in creating plans, specifications, estimates, and reports to support both vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects. This position requires regular presence in the office or at project sites for at least three days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects by coordinating tasks, preparing schedules, and monitoring progress, applying standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Oversee all technical aspects of a project, including design development, contract submissions, testing, and data analysis. Offer guidance and recommendations as needed.
- Review project plans and proposals, suggesting revisions or ensuring necessary updates.
- Handle complex technical assignments across projects, including construction layout, verifying engineering calculations, inspecting work, and conducting field tests.
- Prepare and distribute project specifications, timelines, and progress updates to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Report on project status, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Allocate resources efficiently within the project budget and propose adjustments if necessary.
- Supervise work completed by external contractors and act as the primary point of contact for the project.
- Ensure overall quality control and consistently report on the project’s status.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing project updates as required.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, maintaining the project’s integrity and reputation.
Requirements
- 5 to 7 years of professional experience in project design and development.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field of study preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation design software.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code requirements and procedures.
