Title: Procurement Specialist
Department: Purchasing and Planning Section
Status: Salary (Exempt)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm
SUMMARY:
Function: The objective of the Purchasing and Planning division is to effectively utilize various inputs—including forecasts, inventory levels, consumption rates, production run times, manufacturing capacity, available staffing, and overall capacity—to develop plans that meet customer demand while minimizing costs or maximizing profits.
A procurement specialist responsible for managing materials makes crucial decisions regarding the procurement, utilization, and allocation of raw materials to efficiently and effectively meet production requirements. This role involves providing recommendations and decisions related to raw material sourcing, purchase planning, and processing purchase requisitions.
Scope: Oversees the planning and execution of activities related to the timely and cost-effective procurement, inventory control, and quality assurance of raw materials and supplies while actively collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- BA or BS degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Exhibited strong leadership and effective people management skills.
- Experience with an ERP system is necessary.
- Experience in SAP system is preferred.
- Experience with Excel is necessary.
REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:
1. The skill to effectively manage and negotiate with suppliers.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
3. Ability to present data and reports professionally to internal and external customers or suppliers.
4. Ability to conduct thorough analyses of business situations and provide actionable recommendations.
5. The ability to clearly present complex information in group settings.
6. Maintain a stable, verifiable work history and excellent attendance record.
7. Candidates should be comfortable working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
8. Effectively manage raw materials, finished goods, fixed assets, and confidential or customer information as necessary for the planning department.
9. Have the capability to plan, organize, direct, and monitor events and activities in the planning department.
Periodical
Attending annual and/or quarterly refresher courses related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, quality management, and environmental management. Attend meetings with other departments to explain analytical methods and results as needed.
