What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL SECRETARY PER DIEM position at Toledo Clinic?
Hours will vary based on need of department: Hours could span from 5:45 am - 4:00 pm
General Summary:
Greets patients and maintains the proper collection, processing, maintenance, storage, retrieval, and distribution of their clinical record.
Works under the supervision of the OPS Office Manager
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:
- Promptly and courteously greets patients and families.
- Identifies patient and validates pertinent data.
- Directs patients and family members to pre/post operative areas and to the pre-op interview office.
- Informs families of patient's progress as directed.
5. Accurately prepares patient clinical records.
6. Accurately interprets procedure schedule.
7. Records and forwards specimens to appropriate laboratory.
8. Review clinical records for completeness.
9. Accurately relays messages.
10. Ability to create MS Word and Excel documents.
11. Maintain and order office supplies for OPS.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
- Previous medical experience required.
- Computer skills are essential.
- Adheres to Universal Precaution Standards and the Policies and Procedures of the TCI Outpatient Surgery Center.
- Consistently arrives at work on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Adheres to clinic’s policies and procedures.
Education:
- HS diploma or GED required.
Preferred:
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Medical secretarial training preferred
