What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESPIRATORY TECH or PFT TECH/Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine (M-F) position at Toledo Clinic?
Seeking a full-time or Part-time Pulmonary Function Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist to work in our Pulmonary Department. This position works primarily in our Sylvania OH office along with possible travel to Wauseon and Maumee offices. Hours are Monday - Friday between 8am & 5pm. Ideal candidates will have previous PFT experience along with an RT certification. Experience in DME is preferred.
General Summary:
Provides respiratory therapy to patients.
Works under the supervision of the Physician and Office Manager.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Reviews existing data in patient’s medical records
2. Collect, by interview, necessary information to perform Pulmonary Function testing and inform patients on procedures and use of equipment.
3. Performs basic testing and/or comprehensive pulmonary testing, including administration of bronchodilator and/or oxygen therapy, as ordered by physician.
4. Maintain pulmonary equipment and inventory. Perform calibration daily and quality controls monthly.
5. Perform disinfecting and sterilization procedures.
6. Educate patients on proper use of peak flow meters, spacers, inhalers, and miscellaneous breathing techniques.
7. Type pulmonary function interpretation.
8. Type ABGS and evaluations.
9. Perform and analyze Arterial Blood Gases.
10. Set up patients with oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP machines thru home health care companies including completion of necessary medical forms.
11. Maintain blood gas analyzers.
12. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
- Previous experience in respiratory therapy.
- Familiar with various pulmonary function equipment.
- Adheres to CLIA and OSHA regulations. Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
Education:
-Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy and Recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician and licensed by the State of Ohio.
