POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: AIRPORT MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
GROUP 5
FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt
DIVISION: Airport
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR (TITLE): Manager of Public Safety and Operations
PAY RATE: Per Contract (Starting: $30.46 (per hour)
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
1. To assist in maintaining and operating Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport, Toledo
Executive Airport, and the Seagate Heliport- building systems, facilities, airfield systems,
and equipment.
2. Perform skilled troubleshooting and maintenance work on plumbing, electrical, heating
and air conditioning systems, building control systems, access control systems, security
camera systems, and airfield systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Graduate or GED.
2. Graduation from a trade school/apprenticeship preferred.
3. Satisfactory results on physical (including urinalysis to determine unlawful drug usage),
written and oral examinations.
4. Satisfactory results on a background investigation, including a Federal fingerprint-based
criminal history background check.
5. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Driver License.
6. Possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
7. Must be able to obtain a TOL-issued Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge
with movement area privileges.
8. Must be available for recall during non-duty hours for emergencies, snow removal, or
other required duties.
9. Be insurable and maintain insurability for the operation of motor vehicles.

2. Ability to inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair electrical/mechanical systems.
3. Ability to operate motor vehicles and large construction equipment.

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Inspect, maintain and repair systems and related equipment.
2. Perform preventative and seasonal maintenance on buildings, systems and airport
grounds.
3. Review and complete airfield and building work orders.
4. Perform routine electrical and plumbing repairs.
5. Perform electrical repairs on 110-220-277-480V electrical systems.
6. Perform repairs on HVAC equipment.
7. Perform various duties involving painting, masonry repair, wood, metal and other interior
and exterior structural materials.
8. Inspect, repair, and perform various maintenance work on paved surfaces used for
aircraft and automobile traffic.
9. Perform various field duties related to mowing, tree removal, fencing, etc.
10. Perform various duties related to airside and landside snow removal.
11. Perform routine maintenance on small equipment and vehicles.
12. Perform routine inspections on airport buildings, road/pavement, systems, and airport
grounds.
13. Use a variety of tools, equipment and vehicles as necessary in the performance of
various duties involving both regular and emergency work situations.
14. Engage in two-way radio communication.
15. Maintain continuous situational awareness while on the airfield.
16. Assist in response to aircraft accidents.
17. Performs all other airport maintenance duties as assigned.

Work environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to
various indoor and outdoor environments. The employee may be exposed to the weather
conditions prevalent at the time and may be exposed to dust, grease, noxious gas or fumes,
extreme heat, humidity, excessive noise, and vibration. The employee may be required to work
in confined spaces, and at varying heights. The work may involve an element of personal
danger.
