POSITION SUMMARY
Tolerance Masters, Inc. is a precision machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machines parts and sub-assemblies.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lathe Machinist to join our team. The Lathe Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC and manual lathes to produce precision aerospace components, ensuring that all parts meet strict quality and safety standards
HOURS
Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Fridays - Opportunity for overtime
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and program CNC and manual lathes to fabricate aerospace components according to engineering specifications
- Perform precision manufacturing tasks, ensuring that all parts are manufactured to the highest tolerances, quality standards, and customer specifications.
- Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
- Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment as needed
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment
- Collaborate with engineers, productions supervisors, and quality control personnel to enhance efficiency and meet quality standards
- Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, part counts, inspection results, and maintenance logs
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Ability to work with tight tolerances (e.g., within thousandths of an inch)
- Competence in using precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and dexterity.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or precision machining
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or training in machining or a related field
- Experience with 5-axis lathes or multi-axis machine tools
- Certification in CNC machining or related fields
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 or NADCAP
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment; moderate to high levels of dirt, noise, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, fumes, chemicals/solvents, and electrical hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. is to be worn as applicable throughout the entire shift.
