Scope of Responsibility
Responsible for focusing on production of batch quantities of specialty materials for industrial markets.
Duties and Function
General (Applies to all areas)
- Is a member of a shift team. Works in coordination with other shift members and other shift teams to accomplish the goal of delivering absolute top quality products to the customer in a safe, efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
- Be proficient in a sufficient number of manufacturing operations to provide the plant with flexible manufacturing options. Goal is to become "self-managing".
- Actively contributes to process improvement and innovation.
- Shares knowledge acquired in operations with other members of manufacturing team to broaden the capability of all associates.
- Responsible for shutdown of equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs maintenance on own equipment such as tightening valve packing, tightening leaking flanges, checks oil levels in gear boxes, speed reducers and compressor sumps, and replacing filters.
- Performs duties by following established procedures. Deviations from procedures must have prior management approval.
- Performs assignments as required by management. When in doubt concerning an assignment, contact the production manager for clarification/instructions.
- Responsible for maintaining excellent level of housekeeping in all plant areas
- Assists in emergency situations, following assigned duty in accordance with procedures.
Safety
- Responsible for safe execution of duties in accordance with the Chemical Manufacturing Safety Rules, including wearing of required personal protective equipment, using of all provided safety devices, following all procedures.
- Responsible for equipment checkout & startup after planned or emergency shutdown in accordance with established procedures.
- Actively participate in the safety process through execution of safety audits, participation in safety projects, and being an attending and participating member of a safety team.
- Complete annual safety training as required.
Manufacturing Processes
- Receives raw materials in bulk from tank truck at tank farm - includes sampling, off-loading, and inventory adjustments.
- Performs other shipping & receiving duties, as needed.
- Issues raw materials from staging area/warehouse to process
- Verifies vessels and related equipment are clean, empty, and in necessary condition to begin batch.
- Responsible for safe, efficient, accurate, and timely charging of prescribed raw materials to process vessel. Accurate charging is accomplished by matching material numbers on containers with material numbers on batch sheets.
- Responsible for the proper charging, mixing, sampling, and packaging of blended colorants.
- Responsible for timely sampling of goods in-process and analysis of sample in local monitoring station or transmit to central monitoring station.
- Performs physical/chemical testing in local monitoring station as required during chemical processing.
- Fills out necessary batch sheets, computer sheets, records, logs, and charts.
- Manufactures products that have a large financial liability associated with their application.
- Responsible for processes that have a large dollar value associated with the charged raw materials.
- Performs other assignments as required by the production manager.
