POSITION DETAILS
Unpaid position, looking for a volunteer to work 4-8 hours weekly in our gift shop. Flexible scheduling, easy going atmosphere.
JOB SUMMARY
The Gift Shop Volunteer is responsible for assisting customers in a friendly, professional manner, processing sales, general upkeep of the shop.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTION
- Hours depend on Volunteer availability.
- Provide excellent Customer Service - Friendly and outgoing, able to help customers locating merchandise
- Reliable – would be opening and Closing the shop on some days
- Be familiar and follow hospital Confidentiality policies
- Comfortable handling sales, making change, counting cash drawer, using Point of Sale system on iPad
- Be comfortable answering Gift Shop phone, taking orders/sales over the phone
- Light cleaning – wiping down of displays, straightening displays, emptying trash
- Able to react appropriately if a situation should arise (Emergency Alert, difficult customer)

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- No prior experience needed, all training would be provided.
- Prior experience in Customer Service is helpful.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Proficiently uses Touch Screen Register, makes change, answers phone.
- Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.
- Needs to possess as high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Duties require normal vision and hearing for both telephone/customer service and computer work.
- The Gift Shop Associate is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- The Gift Shop Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Position involves sitting in one position for prolonged periods.
