Candy Packing Specialist - Independent Contractor

This is an independent contractor role for occasional and temporary candy packing production runs. The purpose of this role is to engage in food packaging and packing activities to prepare finished goods products and orders for customers.

Independent Contractors (Contractors) will:

• Be notified of opportunities to engage in this work and will be free to engage with or to decline this work.
• Be provided with an Independent Contractor Agreement and a Non-disclosure Agreement.
• Track and report their hours worked for the term of the engagement.
• Be issued a 1099 tax statement during January 2026, if appropriate and Contractors will be responsible for all of their employment taxes.

Safe Quality Food (SQF) Responsibilities

• Complete all basic Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training (FDA CFR 117), before beginning work on the job duties and responsibilities
• Comply with the spirit and the directives of all GMPs every minute of every day on the job

Food Packing Responsibilities

• Pack candy into finished goods packaging
• Appropriately label the finished good
• Place finished good into corrugated packaging
• Appropriately label the corrugated packaging
• Place corrugated packaging on shipping pallets
• Wrap pallets of corrugated packages of finished goods for warehousing and/or shipping to the customer

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong and trustworthy work ethic
• Efficient and effective with time management
• Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail, quality, and meeting task deadlines
• Able to work independently
• Able to work anticipate problems and opportunities, and then take proactive steps to prevent/mitigate problems and leverage opportunities
• Knows and utilizes root cause problem solving procedures
• Develops and communicates ideas on how to address the root causes of problems
• Knows and utilizes Standard English oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical stamina
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in areas where this is required
• Required to stand for a long period of time, walk or sit
• Regularly required use hands and arms
• Required to compute using basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions of wind, cold, rain and ice as well as climate controlled warehouse.
