Job Description:
Pay: $35/hr
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Bilingual (Spanish) Algebra I Tutor to join our team in Queens. In this role, you will provide in-person tutoring to high school students during the school day, helping them master Algebra I concepts and prepare for assessments. Your bilingual skills will be essential in communicating effectively with students who are Spanish speakers.
Compensation and Schedule:
- Target launch date March 17, 2025
- Schedule of 3 six-hour days each week
- Pay of $35 per hour, including paid sick leave
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individualized tutoring sessions to help students prepare for the Algebra I Regents exam in June
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, particularly English Language Learners.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to keep students engaged.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to facilitate a supportive learning environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, including strong proficiency in mathematical terminology and the ability to teach math effectively in Spanish.
- Previous experience in tutoring or teaching Algebra I.
- Familiarity with the New York State Regents exams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
