We are seeking a Credit Analyst to sit remote on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with financial statements, and a deep understanding of credit risk assessment. As a Credit Analyst, you will assist in determining credit limits, approving or denying credit applications, and ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
This is approx 1 year long contract, fully remote. East coast hours.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other financial data to assess the risk involved in extending credit to individuals or businesses.
- Review and interpret credit histories and financial ratios to determine the ability of the applicant to repay
- Prepare credit reports with detailed recommendations on credit limits, terms, and conditions.
- Evaluate the potential risks associated with loan applications, considering factors such as economic conditions, industry risks, and the applicant’s financial standing.
- Make informed recommendations regarding the approval or rejection of credit applications.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations related to credit assessment and lending.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of credit assessments and decisions.
- Prepare reports for management on credit risk exposure and portfolio performance.
- Work closely with sales teams, relationship managers, and other departments to understand clients' needs and tailor credit offers.
- Communicate with customers or clients to clarify financial details and gather required documentation.
- Advise management on credit trends and emerging risks.
- Monitor existing accounts and track credit performance to ensure ongoing risk management.
- Conduct periodic reviews of customer accounts and recommend adjustments to credit limits as necessary.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in using financial software and tools for credit risk assessment (e.g., spreadsheets, databases).
- Knowledge of credit risk models, credit scoring, and industry regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess complex financial data and provide clear recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
