Our client, a prestigious Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a Manager of Unified Communications to lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of the firm’s global unified communications systems. This key leadership role is critical to ensuring that all communication platforms across the organization are efficient, secure, and highly reliable. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the administration and continuous optimization of communication systems, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 email, Microsoft OneDrive, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
In addition to platform management, the role requires a strategic approach to migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-based platforms, while ensuring minimal disruption and maximum performance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing enterprise-level unified communications environments, as well as strong leadership and collaboration skills to support internal stakeholders and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unified Communications Platform Management:
Oversee and optimize Microsoft Teams for chat, video conferencing, and telephony, ensuring seamless integration with PSTN. Manage Microsoft 365 email administration and Microsoft OneDrive to ensure security, compliance, and reliability. Lead the management of Cisco Unified Communications Manager during its transition to Microsoft Teams Calling. - Migration Strategy & Execution:
Lead the migration of legacy telephony and collaboration solutions to modern cloud environments, particularly transitioning from Cisco CUCM to Microsoft Teams Calling. Manage all phases of migration, ensuring smooth transitions and minimizing disruptions to business operations. - Leadership & Team Development:
Lead a team of engineers and administrators, providing mentorship, fostering professional growth, and ensuring performance aligns with organizational goals. Build a high-performing, collaborative team that delivers on strategic objectives. - Strategic Planning & Innovation:
Develop and implement the firm’s unified communications strategy, ensuring it aligns with the firm's long-term goals. Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to drive improvements in communication tools and platforms. - Performance Monitoring & Security:
Monitor system performance and security across all unified communications platforms, maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. Proactively address issues to ensure the reliability and security of communication systems. - Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with IT leadership and business units to understand the evolving needs of the firm and ensure that communication tools are aligned with organizational requirements. Collaborate to resolve technical issues and optimize user experience. - Training & Support:
Oversee training programs to ensure high adoption rates of new communication tools and ensure users are proficient in using the systems. Provide escalation support to helpdesk teams for complex technical issues and ensure efficient resolution.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator or Cisco CCNP Collaboration are highly preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of IT experience with a focus on unified communications, including substantial hands-on experience managing Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365.
- Proven experience leading the migration of telephony and collaboration systems to cloud-based platforms like Microsoft Teams.
- Strong leadership experience, managing a technical team and driving initiatives forward.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise with Microsoft 365 suite, network protocols, and telephony infrastructure.
- Experience in platform administration and optimization (e.g., Microsoft Teams, CUCM).
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with project management methodologies.
- Additional Skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: $130k to $190k, plus performance-based bonus
