What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Secretary I - Special Services (SPED) position at Topeka Public Schools Unified School?
Reports To : General Director Special Services
Position Purpose : To assist and relieve the General Director of Special Services of paperwork and impediments, so that he / she may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administration; also, to contribute to effective school / public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.
Qualifications :
- High school graduate
- Excellent written language skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to use all office equipment
- Knowledge of school district operations, policies, and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to respect confidences
- Ability to present a professional image and to successfully represent the administrator in communications with the school board, general public, and district employees
- Ability to make effective and efficient independent judgments
- Ability to create documents
- Extensive organizational skills and initiative
- Ability to coordinate other worker's activities
- Ability to handle pressure / stress and ambiguity
Physical / Emotional Requirements : The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.
Light work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

Terms of Employment :
12 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation :
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of classified employees.
