Position Overview  

The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for a Staff Accountant in our Finance Department. This role works with the Finance Team assisting with general ledger support and grant reimbursement claims, tracking and report preparation. 

Relationships 

Reporting to the Controller on the Finance team, this position is highly visible internally and must work with most of the other departments at the Food Bank.  

Working Conditions 

• Hours of Operation: this role works within operating hours of 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday-Friday with flexibility as the needs of the organization allow. Hybrid schedule may be possible after first 90 days mandatory in office. 

• Environment: this role requires sitting or standing for long periods of time while using technology 

Requirements

Your Qualifications  

• 3 years experience in accounting  and/or bookkeeping preferred  

• Associate’s in Accounting Required, Bachelors in Accounting Preferred 

• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Including the ability to understand and organize detailed information and to write or talk about that information. 

• Ability to juggle multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

• Ability to work cooperatively and productively within a high-performance, results-oriented, environment 

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 

• Exercise good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information 

• Demonstrates superior organizational skills 

• Computer proficiency including experience with Microsoft Office and Excel 

• Knowledge of non-profit finance; interest in hunger issue or related social services 

Your Responsibilities  

• Maintain general ledger accounts and accurately process financial transactions in Microsoft NAV and other applicable software 

• Preparing and recording daily and monthly journal entries 

• Assisting other departments with reclassification requests and budget variance review 

• Maintain monthly prepaid and fixed asset sub ledger 

• Prepare and track government grant budgets, financial reports, and claim submittals to government agencies and other granting organizations. 

• Prepare as needed projections and annual budgets to renew government contracts.  

• Prepare documentation and assist with audits and desk reviews. 

• Assist in the preparation of reports, data gathering, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines. 

• Other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO
