Job Type: Full-time
Job Description
Topsarge Business Solutions is seeking a qualified Operational Chemist to support Navy EOD chemical warfare and counter-WMD training at EODTEU-1, located on Naval Base Point Loma. This full-time position contributes directly to national security by preparing Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats through realistic, scenario-based instruction.
The selected candidate will provide technical instruction and operational insight into chemical agent behavior, detection, sampling, analysis, and decontamination. This role bridges the gap between academic science and practical field application by helping EOD teams understand how chemical threats behave in real-world tactical environments.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction in chemical agent detection, response protocols, and WMD countermeasures.
- Support training on the use of chemical detection equipment, sampling kits, PPE, and decontamination procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of CBRN doctrine, threat trends, and chemical safety guidelines.
- Assist in scenario development and provide subject matter expertise during live training events.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of training materials and detection devices.
- Collaborate with other instructors and Navy personnel to continuously improve training content and delivery.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Familiarity with chemical agent characteristics, CBRN protocols, and laboratory/field analysis tools.
- Ability to pass DoD-mandated medical screening and high-risk instructor certification.
- Physically able to operate in training environments that simulate hazardous field conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting CBRN, WMD, or EOD operations in a military or homeland security context.
- Prior experience instructing or developing curriculum in a scientific or tactical training environment.
- Familiarity with military chemical agent detection equipment and decontamination systems.
- Knowledge of applicable Navy safety and operational regulations.
