Summary
Process and prepare submitted materials for use in the pressroom utilizing electronic media. Use software and digital press to efficiently produce materials as per customer specifications.
Description of Essential Tasks
- Assist and educate clients as needed to ensure submitted materials meet production requirements.
- Manipulate images and type as needed to meet production requirements using a variety of computer hardware and software.
- Electronically scan, separate, and color correct images to ensure quality.
- Input, transfer, manipulate, and manage electronic data for output.
- Prepare offset lithographic plates.
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on equipment as required (daily, weekly, and monthly).
- Learn to operate & maintain TKS JetLeader 1500 Digital Web Press.
- Setup, impose and release jobs from print queue.
- Troubleshoot press related issues.
- Communicate with team leaders & manager to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Follow company production protocols and maintain quality standards
- Miscellaneous finishing tasks as required – may include special handwork.
- Keep work areas clear & organized – maintain housekeeping standards.
- Complete daily production logs.
- Maintain OSHA standards for department.
- Participate in all safety-training programs as dictated by department supervisor.
- When preparing or using materials, follow all required safety procedures.
- Assist department with other functions as needed.
Job Requirements/Specifications
- Minimum 1 year of pre-press experience required.
- Experience with In-Design / Preps workflow / Esko workflow suite.
- Working the 3rd shift, 36 to 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Schedule changes may arise with advance notice to temporarily backfill for vacations, leave of absences, etc.
- Ability to carry out detailed work with a high degree of concentration and patience.
- Ability to work in confined work spaces.
- Knowledge and skill in design, layout, and offset web printing.
- Knowledge of various graphic design software and familiarity with PC and Mac operations.
- Ability to follow written & verbal instructions.
- Willingness and ability to learn new processes and tasks.
- PC & MAC literate, strong computer skills and experience with file to print processes.
- Ability to navigate files and folders to set up for production.
- While performing duties of this job, employee is required to stand and walk through the duration of the shift.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs. with or without mechanical assistance, high degree of repetitive motion.
- Advance knowledge of digital printing and/or inkjet imaging equipment.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures and hazardous warnings (manufacturer’s guidelines).
