Job Description

Position Overview  

Join us at Torch Technologies, a forefront innovator in tech solutions, as a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2025. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students eager to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, working alongside experienced engineers on impactful projects.

Duration and Location 

• This is a summer internship, lasting 12 weeks. 
• Huntsville, Alabama 

Key Responsibilities  

During your internship, you may… 

• Design of prototype mechanical systems to include surrogate threat targets and autonomous refueling subsystem components.
• Document processes and improvements.
• Collaborate with teams to solve complex problems.
• Present research and findings in team meetings.

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

• Currently enrolled at an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline.
• Understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and assembly processes.
• Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
• Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software for drafting and modeling mechanical components.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic work setting.
• Passion for learning and growing in a tech-driven environment. 
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design.
• Experience creating detailed SolidWorks drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal simulations.
• Exposure to machine shop environments, including an understanding of fabrication and machining processes.

Requirements 

• US Citizen. 
• At least 18 years old. 
• Actively enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited educational institution. 
• In good academic standing with a grade point average of 3.0. 
• Commitment to a full-time schedule during the internship period.
