JOB TITLE: Case Assistant
PROGRAM: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
DEPARTMENT: Family Development Services
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
Salary: $22.25 per hour non-negotiable

3.28 Temporary Employee/Emergency Hire: An employee who is hired for a specified period of time or project assignment not to exceed 90 days. Upon completion of that project or time period, the employee will be released.

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Family Development Services Manager (‘Manager”), this position will be responsible for assisting Case Workers in managing client cases and records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist the Case Workers logistically through the processing and drafting of necessary information, such as case notes, logs, purchase requisitions, client documentation, and eligibility reports
  • Process, maintain, and update records of supportive services for the client, including grants, mileage reimbursement, and other expense-related reports
  • Generate, draft, and distribute notices of action to clients for required documents, expenses, and verification or denial of supportive services
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned actions
  • Interact with other relevant associates both internally and externally to coordinate client services needed, to resolve issues and conflicts, and to exchange information
  • Attend a variety of meetings when required

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Non-supervisory.

  • Attend mandatory trainings
  • Travel when required
  • Perform related duties as assigned

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and written, in a professional manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalency certificate and two (2) years of clerical experience, preferably in the social/public service field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: To perform and to continue to be qualified for this position, the requirements listed below must be met at time of hire or may be obtained within a specific amount of time depending on the position requirements. Costs for required certifications, licenses, and registrations are to be covered by employee, unless offered by the Tribe.

  • Does not require driving in the course and scope of employment.
  • Requires regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with P.L.101-630.
  • Requires throughout employment maintaining a Mandated Reporting Certificate of Training.
  • Requires throughout employment maintaining a CPR/AED/First Aid Card/Certification.
