We are seeking a compassionate Victim Support Specialist to collaborate with attorneys in collecting information from individuals who have experienced sexual abuse. Given the sensitive nature of the information involved, we require candidates with a minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, counseling and psychology, or trauma and crisis counseling. The position entails conducting sensitive topic interviews over the phone rather than in person.

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to stay calm, professional, and empathize with clients when they are retelling traumatic events and details related to past sexual abuse. It's crucial to be aware of others' reactions and understand the reasons behind their responses. Proficiency in engaging in conversations and extracting details related to violent and sexual crimes is essential. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have the ability to accurately notate and report the information gathered from victims for legal purposes.

Victim Support Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed, lengthy interviews by telephone.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality at all times.

Victim Support Specialist Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
  • 3 Experience working with clients that have suffered sex abuse
  • Ability to give full attention to what clients are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions, and not interrupt inappropriately.
  • Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset.
  • Understand the correct procedures when interacting with victims who are struggling to recount past traumatic events.
  • Required to engage in professional discussions on sensitive subjects pertaining to sexual abuse.
  • Experience working for sexual abuse victims.
  • Interviewing experience.
  • Trauma informed interviewing skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
