Position Overview
The Feed Mill Manager is responsible for the operational oversight of the feed mill and bulk warehouse processing facility to meet targeted production and quality assurances. The Feed Mill Manager will oversee all aspects from performance and development of the team (70 employees,) inventory management, quality assurances, maintenance, safety, FSMA compliance, and production scheduling.
In this role you should expect to:
- Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance, and compliance which includes:
- Performance management & succession planning

- Direct production staff and maintenance at mill and at bulk processing warehouse to achieve maximize production, reduce down times, and ensure feed quality
- Participate in meetings to ensure targeted deadlines and KPIs are achieved
- Use strong communication skills to elevate team and inform internal/external customers of any potential delays
- Partner with nutritionist in determining feed formulations
- Manage the ingredient inventories
- Collaborate with farms to understand feed needs for effective production planning & partner the transportation division to optimize load out of finished feeds and reduce wait times
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership through effective communication and collaboration to support company goals
- Develop best practices and use strong communication skills to build a strong, cohesive team
- Act as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance and consistency for daily business requirements
- Champion a Safety Culture
- Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures

Who you are
- At least 18 years of age
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Manufacturing related field strongly preferred but not required. In lieu of degree, 6 years of experience in feed mill management
- 3 years' leadership experience managing a team of 15 in manufacturing or feed mill environment
- Strong decision-making & problem-solving skills with independent decision-making ability
- Familiar with 5S and lean six sigma concepts
- Demonstrated analytical aptitude
- Demonstrated organizational and planning capabilities
- Ability to drive change as well as lead, mentor, and train others
- Ability to connect with people throughout all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of financial management, including budgeting and cost analysis
- Proficient computer skills
- Self-motivated
- High-level organizational skills with attention to detail, allowing you to handle high volumes of work and multiple priorities
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. frequently
