DEFINITION AND PURPOSE:
The Education Support Manager plays a key role in overseeing and enhancing the educational services within the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. This position is responsible for providing crucial support throughout the transitional phases for children and families, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and smooth program transitions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONAL COORDINATION:
- Coordinate Education Staff and Lead Teacher Meetings in collaboration with the Supervisor of Education and Education Coordinator team.
- Schedule and facilitate interviews, working with the Supervisor of Education to establish interview panels and manage related paperwork.
- Organize Child and Family Staffing Meetings for both Head Start and Early Head Start, including meetings for Child Care Partnerships.
- Manage teacher accounts for VALLSS and VKRP, ensuring all screening reports are completed and submitted. Prepare Outcomes Reports using data from TSG, VALLSS, and VKRP.
- Assist with updates to Link B 5 for education staff and classrooms. Monitor CLASS scores and support observations and data entry in ChildPlus.
- Ensure kindergarten surveys are completed by Head Start and partnership teachers and coordinate kindergarten observations and field trips.
- Maintain and update the Transition to Kindergarten Handbook and related materials for teaching staff.
- Oversee bus services via RADAR, manage transportation logistics for field trips, and ensure necessary paperwork is completed.
- Review and submit invoices from partnerships to finance for payment processing.
- Manage diaper orders for Early Head Start and Child Care Partnerships.
- Provide assistance with CLASS Observations and Coaching as needed.
- Assist with classroom observations and monitoring (e.g., ITERS/ECERS).
- Compile and submit lists of classroom consumables or furniture needs to the Supervisor of Education for ordering supplies.
COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Head Start performance standards.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports, ensuring data integrity, and assist in preparing for audits or inspections.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all sensitive information, including children’s educational records.
- Support monitoring and adherence to quality assurance protocols.
TEAM SUPPORT AND COMMUNICATION:
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting professional growth and positive dynamics.
- Facilitate communication among education staff, families, and community partners.
- Support staff with classroom management, curriculum implementation, and program improvements.
STAFF MANAGEMENT:
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new staff as needed.
- Identify staff training needs, assist with in-service workshops, and ensure ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Provide coaching and feedback to staff to support continuous improvement in teaching practices.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Adhere to TAP Head Start Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Handle correspondence and maintain records.
- Order materials and supplies for the center.
- Participate in hiring of center staff as needed.
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with families and community partners to enhance program effectiveness and family engagement.
- Collaborate with community agencies and resources to provide families with additional support services.
- Coordinate parent meetings, workshops, and events designed to promote child development and school readiness.
- Encourage parent participation in school activities, volunteering opportunities, and parent leadership development initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- Adhere to NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Head Start Code of Conduct.
- Attend meetings, workshops, or in-service training related to Head Start or Early Childhood Education.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development.
- Familiarity with community resources.
- Proficiency in computer programs for data management.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and multitask effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or related field.
- Four years’ experience working with families and young children.
- Three years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Must be a certified CLASS observer annually.
- Certified in ITERS/ECERS preferred.
- Familiarity with the Whole Family Approach is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid Virginia Operator’s license with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
- TAP participates in the Virginia DMV Driver Alert Program. Employees who operate a TAP vehicle or their personal vehicle to conduct TAP business may be subject to driver record monitoring through the Virginia DMV Driver Alert Program.
- This position is eligible for remote work upon supervisor’s approval.
- Must be able to travel out of town and overnight for occasional training and conferences
- Must pass drug screening. Some positions require positive complete background screening including: criminal, sex offender and child protective services.
- Must have CPR and First Aid certification or be able to complete such certification within 6 months of employment.
- This position requires the individual to be in the field and must have contact with the office staff and supervisor therefore an agency issued cell phone is necessary.

- Physical requirements of this position – medium work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual acuity requirements – close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
