Job Summary
We are seeking an EXPERT billing and coding specialist for our chiropractic and physical therapy office. The ideal candidate MUST be an expert in the physical therapy, chiropractic, and medical billing process for all insurance including commercial insurance, Medicare, and personal injury claims. You will responsible for managing billing processes, previewing billing/coding prior to submission for accuracy, verifying insurance, communicating with patients, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, timely following up on claims, posting and applying payments, electronic and paper EOB posting and follow up, and maintaining office compliance and patient records. This role requires a strong understanding of billing, coding, compliance, medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate medical billing software and be computer literate. Experience with Nextgen Healthfusion software a plus!
Duties
- Accurately prepare and submit physical therapy and chiropractic claims to all types insurance companies and government payers.
- Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage to ensure proper billing.
- Utilize medical coding systems including ICD-10 for accurate claim submissions.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues with insurance providers.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and patients to address billing inquiries and provide necessary documentation.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in medical terminology and an expert in medical billing processes.
- Experience in a medical office setting along with knowledge of medical records management.
- Strong understanding of medical coding practices, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in medical collections is required.
