Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategically minded Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include assisting with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership. This role will also be responsible for providing project teams with financial guidance and assisting with monthly close processes. This individual needs to be a committed and driven team member with the ability to adapt to change while taking over an increasing amount of accounting and reporting volume as our company grows.
To be successful in this role, she/ he must possess effective intelligence skills to communicate with a wide variety of team members, both doctors, clinical, and support staff in a rapidly growing business. She/ He should be able to perform a variety of accounting and financial activities and a strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to present accounting and financial information and models in a concise and easily comprehensible manner.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Critical hands-on support for month-end accounting close process including proper posting of cash, sales, cost of goods and general and administrative expenses.
- Support accounting staff in proper and timely bank and credit card account reconciliations.
- Retrieve monthly cash receipts reports to calculate and maintain the doctor’s compensation templates.
- Retrieve and manage system reports, i.e., AR Aging, Inventory Valuation, Inventory Sold, Net Sales Reports.
- Maintain a monthly waterfall (revenue) analysis to determine the insurance allowance adjustments.
- Calculate and propose the monthly revenue recognition template.
- Calculate periodic commission and bonus payouts in accordance with the company incentive programs.
- Responsible for creating, analyzing, and maintaining all critical monthly balance sheet reconciliation schedules including but not limited to Accounts Receivable and Roll-forward, Prepaid Expenses, Rebate Receivables, Accrued Liabilities, Accrued Payroll, ROU Assets, Accrued Interest and Loan balances Roll-forward.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset ledger to properly record assets and related depreciation.
- Perform monthly income statement and balance sheet trends analysis to support periodic reporting and variance analytic to compare with budget and/or actual as prior year.
- Closely work with the operation team on inventory management, perform and maintain a periodic inventory reconciliation between accounting records and the subledger balances.
- Play a key role in annual financial audit by interfacing with auditors and preparing required schedules.
- Perform research and analysis as required, assist with other related ad hoc responsibilities and tasks as assigned by department and company leadership.
- Evaluate Electronic Practice Management (EPM) systems and be able to learn multiple systems concurrently in order to support proper GAAP based collection and presentation of transactional information.
- Understand key business drivers and track KPIs for the preparation of financial reports.
- Develop or support the development of financial projections, budgets, and financial planning models.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, CPA a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of senior level accounting experience.
- Current in GAAP accounting procedures and guidelines.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, excellent time management ability.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance and information analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems or related technologies, or related financial systems, Sage Intacct software is a plus.
- Advanced Excel modeling includes skills in vlookup, sumif, index, complex pivot tables and more.
- Expertise in SQL (Structured Query Language) is a plus.
