Position Overview:
The Unloading Team Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the unloading process, managing a team of workers, and ensuring that containers are unloaded in an organized and safe manner. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication with the customer, and a focus on maintaining a high standard of safety, efficiency, and quality in all unloading operations.
We are looking for an organized and proactive supervisor to oversee a team of 12-16 workers and ensure the safe, efficient unloading of 30-40 containers daily. The Supervisor will also serve as the main point of contact for our client, providing daily updates on unloading progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Supervise a team of 12-16 unloading workers, providing direction, support, and coaching to ensure daily goals are met.
- Assign daily tasks to workers based on container size and workload, ensuring the team is working efficiently.
- Monitor worker performance, provide constructive feedback, and address any issues or concerns that arise.
- Maintain a positive and productive team environment, encouraging teamwork and accountability.
- Unloading Operations:
- Oversee the unloading of 30-40 containers per day, ensuring the process is done safely and efficiently.
- Organize the unloading area to maximize productivity and minimize delays.
- Ensure that containers are unloaded according to client specifications, inventory requirements, and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring materials and goods are properly handled to prevent damage.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring that all unloading activities comply with OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure team members are properly trained in the use of unloading equipment.
- Identify and resolve potential safety hazards in the unloading process, taking immediate corrective actions.
- Client Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer regarding unloading activities.
- Provide daily updates to the client on the status of unloading, including any delays or issues encountered.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with the customer to ensure they are informed and satisfied with the unloading process.
- Address any customer concerns or inquiries promptly and escalate issues to management as needed.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track daily unloading progress and report on container throughput, worker performance, and any challenges faced.
- Collect and analyze data on unloading efficiency to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and submit reports on unloading activities to management, highlighting performance metrics, delays, and areas of concern.
- Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution:
- Address any operational challenges that arise during the unloading process, ensuring that any delays or issues are resolved quickly.
- Manage unexpected changes in schedules or container contents and adjust the workflow accordingly to minimize disruptions.
- Work closely with customer to ensure smooth coordination and completion of unloading tasks.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience managing teams of 10 workers in a high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and best practices.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team to meet performance targets.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Bilingual-Spanish
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move items as required by the unloading process (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
- Technology:
- Basic knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Familiarity with container unloading equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar machinery, is preferred.
