Totally Awesome Childcare & Preschool is seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our play-based, Reggio-inspired childcare center. This role is crucial in providing leadership, ensuring high-quality care, and fostering strong relationships with staff, families, and children. Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Team Support:
- Assist the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the center, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to teachers, promoting professional growth and positive team dynamics.
- Demonstrate strong conflict management skills by addressing staff concerns and resolving issues professionally.
- Step into classrooms as needed to support teachers, maintain ratios, and uphold classroom management expectations.
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, safety procedures, and curriculum standards in all classrooms.
Communication & Family Engagement:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with staff, families, and children.
- Serve as a point of contact for parents, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively through face-to-face conversations, Brightwheel messages, and parent meetings.
- Lead and assist with family events, conferences, and enrollment tours to showcase our center’s philosophy.
Operations & Problem-Solving:
- Assist with staff scheduling, coverage planning, and classroom support to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Manage challenging behaviors in children by guiding staff on behavior management strategies and working with families.
- Handle emergency situations, licensing inspections, and compliance tasks with confidence and efficiency.
- Support enrollment efforts by providing tours, onboarding new families, and maintaining positive retention.
Professional Growth & Personal Development:
- Model a growth mindset, continuously seeking ways to improve leadership and professional skills.
- Encourage a positive workplace culture, fostering teamwork, joy, and a love for early childhood education.
- Attend and facilitate staff training, meetings, and professional development sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in early childhood education (leadership experience preferred).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for play-based, Reggio-inspired learning and working with young children.
- Ability to adapt, multitask, and manage conflicts in a fast-paced childcare setting.
- Knowledge of state childcare licensing regulations and classroom management best practices.
