Description
Toth and Associates, Inc (TOTH) is currently seeking candidates for a Survey and Field Technician to join our Land Survey department. This position’s primary responsibility is conducting drone flights for LiDAR acquisition. Other responsibilities include survey activities for construction staking, boundary surveys, topography surveys, and ALTA Surveys.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preflight planning, including weather checks, airspace and flight restriction reviews, site logistics, and ground control planning to ensure safe and effective drone operations.
- Operate drones to perform LiDAR data collection for topographic and mapping surveys, ensuring accurate and efficient field acquisition.
- Locate boundary, pins, improvements, utilities, etc. while performing various project types including ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
- Check and reduce raw field data, perform calculations, and download/file survey data.
- Follow instructions and work orders from project managers.
- Communicate daily with Field Project Manager to confirm if field schedule is on track to be completed and to inform when behind or ahead of schedule.
- Maintain and adhere to QA/QC procedures, take notes, and maintain office and field project material.
- Perform project research as needed.
Physical and Work Environment Demands:
- Work is primarily conducted in an outdoor setting with the possibility of exposure to extreme heat, cold, wet, muddy, and other adverse environmental conditions.
- Job sites may require traversing through rugged terrain in remote areas.
- Transporting heavy equipment to various job sites is also required. This includes regularly lifting/moving up to 25 pounds, frequently lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifting/moving up to 100 pounds.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot License with minimum 1 year of flight experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in field surveying.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel regionally and out of state regularly.
- Comprehensive knowledge in the use of Robotic and GPS equipment using Trimble and Carlson Equipment.
- Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints, plats, maps, site plans, deeds, legal documents, and field notes.
- Available to work overtime including weekends, as needed.
